We discuss the information we have received about the bandits, and generally conclude that it is probably best to actually deal with them rather than simply to move them along to be someone else’s problem. It will take about 5 days to get to their camp and back, so we decide to wait until tomorrow as we are due to get the report from the scouts about the goblins.
Dorin introduces Shallyn to the local hunters, and it would seem that one of them hasn’t been seen for about a month, Harry Rolland who lives in Wistwood, but normally comes into town a few at least once a week, they wondered if Dorin knew where he was.
Fintan spends the morning catching up with some of his office work, and asks Gem to keep a special eye on the Evers gang.
Thomas makes himself known about town talking to people, whilst Abermar is ensconced during the morning staring at his still unopenable book.
We meet up at 11 outside the church of the Rising Sun where we are to meet with Carric and Hanna to talk about the proposed site of a Teleportation circle.
Just as we begin we hear a the sound of earth moving followed by a low moan, and rushing out we see the graveyard full of zombies emerging from the earth. the sound of shattering stone heralds the sight of a huge skeleton on a skeletal warhorse crash out from a mausoleum on the hill.
Hanna tells us that she and Carric can probably deal with the Zombies and keep them from getting into the town if we deal with the skeletons. We set off up the hill feeling the heat from fireballs exploding behind us.
The skeletal warrior is indeed formidable and a solid blow from his greataxe could have proved fatal, but we manage to survive the battle. Thomas recognises the coat of arms on the mausoleum, and says it belonged to an old baron of the area, who was a war hero, although he had an evil reputation and was not one to cross.
We decide to search the graveyard and find another one of the runestones that were causing problems with the undead.
Carric says it is the same as the first one we found, and was probably placed at the same time, it took longer to have an effect due to the regular rituals that are done in the church. He guesses that the magic has been there for about a month or so, but may be able to narrow that down with some more examination of the stones.
After a short break we discuss the teleportation site with Carric, it seems like a good location, easily defendable should the worst happen, Shallyn recommends a better lock.
Carric tells us that the eye we found on the island is a hags eye, used for scrying, and tells us it could be used as a focus for a clairvoyance spell if any of us learns it. He also tells us that destroying it would likely do damage to the hags that created it.
We decide to treat the eye with some caution, and Thomas worries that it may attract the hags
In the afternoon we decide to search the other graveyards in the town and find a further runestone near the temple to the elder gods.
