After defeating the ghouls we make our way to the maze deciding to cut through it rather than attempt to navigate its overgrown paths. Dorin hacks through a hedge, attracting the attention of more creatures, one of them with a paralyzing stench, Abermar believes it to be a ghast. Before continuing we rest for a while and retreat to the relative safety of the woods. Dorin goes looking for the bear, but it is not to be found. .
Returning to the maze we eventually find the mausoleum, however it is empty and there are no apparitions. We do manage to work out that the bride was called Alice Rittinger, and locate her fathers coffin, but not her mothers, Thomas thinks the events of that wedding day haunted her mother, and she left the house when her husband died. At least we know where to bring the bones if we can find them, and that may halt the haunting of the mansion.
Returning to the house to continue our investigations, each room we enter tells more of the story of that fateful wedding day, but give us no clue as to where Alice’s lover is buried. Leaving the house to search the stables, we wait as Dorin once again goes looking for the bear, with partial success in that the bear finds him and he is attacked.
The bear is defeated, however more about our group is revealed when Shallyn changes into a large dire wolf to chase down the bear, and Abermar displays more unususal powers as a black bolt emerges from his staff. There is some concern about Shallyn’s tranformation, however he assures us he is not a werewolf, and I confirm this telling them I am familiar with werewolves, warning Shallyn not to let the beast gain control when he changes. I was plesant enough, but realised that I had been unconsiously fingering my hunting knife as I spoke, I hope Shallyn did not get ther wrong message.
When we reach the stables we see a ghostly vision of the lover being burried beneath some flagstones, and recover them, intending to place them in Alices coffin.
Returning to the Mausoleum Nathaniels shade trys to prevent us from bringing in the bones, senseing I have the bones he attacks me. Calling on the power of Elenath I am able todrive the spirit temporarly from the building, allowing us to ready ourselves. Thus prepared the spectre of Alice’s father is quickly defeated.
Having place the bones in his lovers coffin we make to leave and are greeted by Alice’s ghost who thanks us before fading a way leaving behind a ring as a gift. We hear her voice fading away saying ‘if only he had been wearing it that day, he may have lived’ I am able to tell the others that the ring is magical, but little more.
Reaching Rowen Cove well into the evening, we are eating a well earned meal when Gem and Mylock arrive to report to Fintan. Gem reports on her interviews with Amely Crowther and Crisy Newman and Mylock has a strange runestone which was found attached to the end of the Jetty where the Zombies attacked. Seeking the advice of Carric he told us it had a necromantic aura about it and was the focus of a spell that attracted the undead, he said the magic was slowly fading and the spell was cast in the last few weeks, maybe a month ago. He was unable to decipher the rune, but told us the magic was old, ancient magic before the time of Kalen Soma, and suggested if we wanted to know more, then he could take it with him to the wizards guild for the head of necromancy to look at, he also offered to dispel the magic the following day if we wished.
He was willing to identify the ring for 50gp, and taking him up on his offer discover that it gives the possessor some abilites to speak with, befriend and scare animals. Whilst we were identifying things we had found we Abermar and Shallyn agreed that the potion we found in the smugglers cave was a potion of waterbreathing.
Taking the runestone with us on a patrol round the harbour side we wonder if it would attract the Slasher, assuming he was one of the unusual undead phenomena that was plaguing the town and the surrounding area, but without success. We call it a day and turn to our beds.

In the morning we decide to look at the Jenny Bell murder in more detail, oh well my trip to discover Mad Merrik’s lost treasure will have to wait again. I am dragged by Fintan and Abermar to scour the murder sight for signs of magic, they were hoping to find another rune, however none was to be found. Meanwhile Shallyn broke into her house to find it empty, and spent the some time with his canine friend Ralph, who hadn’t spotted anything unusual since they last spoke.
As we discussed the morning over lunch, Tabbatt arrived with a report for Fintan about the original slasher murders which proved interesting.
