I spend some time studying the shrine, before we head back to Rowen Cove arriving in the late afternoon.
We decide to report our success to commander Albridge and ask him if he knows anyone who can speak goblin (he does not). He decides that he should lock down Rowen Cove to prevent any of the collaborators fleeing, whilst the watch arrests the Evers gang.
Investigating the council minutes, it transpires that they are compiled and copied by the magistrates secretary Jenkin Bateman, and are kept on his desk in a room with no security, he checks and confirms that one is missing, but seems to put it down to himself miscounting the number of copies. He explains that it takes a week or so to produce the copies and after getting to magistrate to approve a draft he produces them at a rate of one or two a day when he has the time. One copy for each councilor and one for the archive.
The archive is in the basement of the magistrates building and is well guarded on account of it being near the town coffers, he says he will check the minutes of earlier meetings to see if any are missing, and will let us know.
Gem reports to Fintan that it has been quiet whilst we were away, perhapse too quiet, apart from one group of drunks thinking another was a zombie, resulting in the watch having to fish the ‘zombie’ out of the harbour.
Meeting back at the Kraken we get Carric to translate the Papers found in the red blade outpost.
We pass the information on to Commander Albridge who starts to instigate a hunt for the traitor in his ranks, whilst we aid Fintan in aprehending the Evers gang.
Seven members of the Evers gang are named in the papers as having taken bribes to provide information:
- Jo Evers
- Pat James
- Sharky Simms
- Handsom Freddy
- Karl Brek
- Doggy Mustin
He sends his watchmen to arrest a few of the gang from known places they hang out, whilst we take on the gang headquarters in an abandoned warehouse on the docks.
Jo Evers is an accomplished fighter and the gang are waiting for us, but we manage to defeat them without killing any, and hopefully some of them can be persuaded to talk.
